One of the activities in Unit 3 in the Assessment and Evaluation Course was to fill out a table assessing receptive and productive skills of students attending Conestoga College LINC Program.
Productive skills - Speaking and Writing - skills that learners use to communicate. When assessing productive skills, instructions need to be very clear, and outcomes need to be determined in advance.
Receptive skills - Listening and Reading - skills that learners develop to process information. Measuring receptive tasks gives the instructor control over how the students will demonstrate knowledge and/or learning, so it's important to design an assessment that doesn't tax the learner in other ways. For example, if you are assessing listening, don't make the questions difficult to understand or ask for long written answers.
Below please find the table showing different methods of assessment and different types of criteria for assessment.
